October 2024 Belize Voluncation Trip

Take a vacation and volunteer with us!

Dates: October 12 – 22, 2024

Example Itinerary (from previous years):

• Day 1: Arrival Belize International Airport BZE direct flight from Seattle on Alaska Air, many airlines fly with 1 layover in US.
  •  Shared rental van to lodge, dinner and snack shopping
• Day 2: Xunantunich Ruins, Cahal Pech, San Ignacio. Cost $10.
• Day 3 – 6: Work in respective projects.
  • Teams
    • Medical: volunteer at the clinic, home visits and health training
    • Ambulance: training for EMR, EMT and user training
    • Library: tutoring, projects with students, music, education, and creating a teen career training
    • Police Station: work to reopen/construction and train with San Ignacio Police for San Antonio area
    • Extra Projects: sewing, gardening, team support, photos, journaling, etc.
  • During the week there will be time to swim and adventure around San Antonio-Butterfly Farm, Big Rock Falls, Cave Tour, Coffee Plantation, Market shopping, birding, and jungle hiking. Cost $20.
• Day 7: San Antonio or Cristo Rey Community Activity
• Day 8: Excurions-Cave Tubing or Guatemala (Tikal), Rio On Pools, Rio Frio Caves
• Day 9 – 10:  Wrap-up activities
• Day 11 – 13: Extended Trip-Group Travel to Islands
• Day 14: Fly home

Food: Mostly provided by Upe Nai. Meals and non-alcoholic drinks. Cost will not exceed $25 per day.

Lodging: Mariposa Jungle Lodge- https://mariposajunglelodge.com/ (At least 50% off rate guaranteed)

Transportation: Group ground transport will be split. Previous trips it was less than $225 per person for rental and gas. We will split some basic costs among the group, but they are minimal. 

Island extension: Caye Caulker – Previously, we rented Happy Destiny as our own resort, nobody else was there. It was about $75 per couple or Queen bed. There are 2 options to the island-water taxi or fly. You choose your own adventure and cost. Estimated cost is $30-70. https://www.relaxbelize.com/ 

Notes: 

• There is flexibility for travelers who would like to travel separately, or arrive/depart a little late/early. 
• If you are not able to go on the trip, but would still like to help with Belize Blessings, I have several little projects. Anyone can participate.
• Zoom Meetings will be held with those interested in participating.
