Library

In 2020, we started a project to repair an abandoned internet cafe. There was a need in the community for tutoring and education. Help here in the US or in Belize on the Voluncation trip October 21, 2023.

This Internet cafe was rat, bat, and crap infested. The village donated this location. We were able to clean it and set it up to become a community learning center.

In 2023 with a grant from Altrusa, we were able to build a bathroom for the community library. It is now self-sustaining. The library is open 6 days a week. On the weekends they host movie nights, games, and special guest speakers and open mic night for poetry or music.

Kids love to play at learning and the mural on the back wall was painted by a local artist, Urbano.
